I know we give eyegouger and the other Sox fans a lot of shit about the jealousy angle, but reading some of the posts there's a lot of truth in it.
I also read where eyegouger got his "there already is a shift happening" statement from. They're counting on the area around Comiskey to be built with new housing and bars, restaurants in the future; the neighborhood will be more "Wrigley" like and the same bandwagon jumpers and yuppies they now despise will become Sox fans.

Hairston the Lesser cost Prior that win, not Dempster (though Dempster didn't help matters).
I liked Hairston for the first week he was playing, but the like has soured. He's like a Corey Patterson who can't hit the ball hard and who you don't think will improve much at anything. Todd Walker with a peg leg is twice the 2Bman.

I was "over there" and one of the threads had a link to the whitesoxinteractive board. After reading it, I was checking out some of the threads there and ran across a thread where they are complaining about the Cubs rotation for the Sox series setting up as Z, Maddux & Prior: "Baker is intentionally adjusting his starting rotation to give his team the best chances at beating the Sox. I think he learned this from Jerry Manuel, who IIRC, adjusted the Sox rotation for the purpose of bettering his chances at beating the Cubs during Baker's first year with the Cubs. Baker took some heat for not understanding the importance of the head-to-head Sox/Cubs games. He does now, and as a Sox fan I am pissed at his deception about it. Baker is giving Zambrano, one of his best pitchers, an extra day off to allow him to pitch against the Sox, NOT because he wanted to give him an extra day to rest after his 136-pitch last outing. " When IS Prior going to pitch next now? May 17 in Pittsburgh? I'm a little sad that I'll miss out on Prior vs the White Sox; I've seen all his home starts so far this season. (BoSoxBill & I saw his first!) My opinion: If Prior prefers throwing to Hank White, LET HIM THROW TO HANK WHITE!!! Anyone remember what happened the last time Barrett caught him?

Just a grandslam, two walks and another home run. I personally blame Barrett. ;D But seriously, I know pitch selection is up to the pitcher, but in real life I think it's a little more complicated than that. Prior is just more comfortable throwing to Hank, just like he was better with Gabor last year than with Barrett. I don't know why that would be, but I don't see any reason to mess with it. But then again, I never had a problem with Maddux throwing to Gabor (or to Hank). They assigned Barrett to Maddux this year to improve Barrett's game-calling (which is another indication that -- despite what all the experts on messageboards say -- a catcher should know something about game calling). It also seems to me that if you have a crap bullpen and a crap offense and thus you expect your 4-man pitching staff (which includes a 39-year-old and Glendon Rusch) to throw complete game shutouts on a constant basis, you let them choose whatever catcher they please.

Three other observations:
Neifi still runs the team. Whatever he's making, it isn't ENOUGH imo. He and Prior have secret strategy meetings all the time. viva neifi!
The best comment I heard at the game was after Blanco's blooper fell between the crowd of Mets: "It's a line drive in the boxscore, Hank!" I think it's hilarious that everyone at Wrigley calls him Hank.
Sean Gallagher rocks. He finally gave up a solo HR in the 6th inning last night -- the only earned run allowed in 42 innings. Broke the franchise record, but fell 4 outs short of breaking the Midwest League record (but he did it straight out of the gate in a league he's young in, which is cool). He just stared out over where the HR went as the batter (Deacon Burns!) trotted around, then went back to mowing them down for another inning and a half.
He can throw faster than JoeBo. Gallagher for closer!

What's the story behind the Hank White thing?

They call him that at Desipio because Henry Blanco = Hank White (and they have the Hank White Fan Club there). But it's not new; Maddux calls him "Whitey."

They call Burnitz "short bus" because of this absolutely HILARIOUS photograph of him trying to catch a HR ball in spring training that I think he actually succeeded in tipping into the bullpen. He looked like he had an enormous egg-shaped head in the picture.

I just dropped Frank Thomas and added Dubois in the ditch league if any of you yahoos are interested in the always hurt one. The Big Hurt is just starting his rehab assignment. If you stuck with him this long, it seems like odd timing. Keep your eye on Slingblade's usage ... apparently, Dusty keeps rambling on about how often he's going to be playing, so now no one knows again.
